Medical Command Communicator I (Per Diem) is responsible for performing duties and operations in accordance with applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and guidelines including but not limited to, West Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS) Medical Direction System and West Virginia Rural Emergency Trauma Institute policies, procedures and guidelines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but is not limited to the following.
Serve as the primary coordinator of medical command communications that is provided by EMS field personnel as it relates to treatment under WV State EMS protocols and serves as the primary interface between field personnel and Medical Command Physicians. This includes monitoring of;
1. Protocol selection and application.
2. Communicates between and among EMS field units and receiving medical facilities.
3. Coordinates aero medical responses in the area of responsibility as well as other services.
4. Facilitates emergency medical services communications activities between and among regional medical command centers and all participating hospitals, using a variety of communication equipment
5. Operates as part of the EMS team both within and outside the organization.
6. Maintains all records and files in accordance with agency policy and procedure.
7. Attends meetings and in-service training as required.
8. Maintains the confidential nature of all agency information and data in accordance with agency policy and procedures.
9. This position may require overtime, and additional duties may be assigned as needed.
