The WV Office of EMS, EMS for Children Program is offering an intensive one-day pediatric symposium. "Children are not small adults" and children with special needs present unique challenges for emergency care providers. Communication is critical to providing optimal care to the pediatric population. Child abuse is unfortunately widespread in our society and often emergency health care providers have more than one opportunity to intervene. Children with cardiovascular disease and congenital heart defects present unique opportunities for providers. End of life decisions are difficult even in the elderly population but are particularly problematic for families with terminally ill children. All of these important topics will be covered in this intensive one-day seminar.
The two (2) one day pediatric symposiums will be held at NO COST. The target audience is registered nurses and prehospital providers (Paramedics/EMTs/First Responders).
