- Last week, AT&T Chief Financial Officer John Stephens noted that nearly 650 public-safety agencies in 48 states and territories have subscribed to FirstNet.
- The First Responder Network Authority is seeking expressions of interest from individuals who would like to serve on the FirstNet Board. The vacancy announcement can be viewed here.
- The First Responder Network Authority recently participated in 3GPP standards development meetings held in Chennai, India, March 19-23. The meetings covered the latest developments on international LTE standards in several areas relevant to the FirstNet network. The First Responder Network Authority represented public safety interests at the plenary meetings. On the Road
- First Responder Network Authority Board member Kevin McGinnis spoke last week at the National Rural EMS & Care Conference in Tucson, Arizona. In addition, First Responder Network Authority staff manned an exhibit booth and answered numerous questions on how FirstNet could facilitate rural EMS operations.
- Tribal Working Group Chair Brian Howard and the First Responder Network Authority tribal team presented on tribal involvement in the FirstNet network build-out and other tribal considerations last week at the Native American Finance Officers Association (NAFOA) 36th Annual Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana.
- First Responder Network Authority staff also presented last week at the Fire Department Instructors Conference (FDIC) International in Indianapolis, Indiana.
- Also last week, First Responder Network Authority staff attended the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) Region IV Conference in Nashville, Tennessee.

- This week, the First Responder Network Authority will participate in a New Hampshire Statewide Interoperability Executive Committee Data and Communications Committee meeting in Concord; a Northwest Vermont Regional Meeting in Milton; the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) Broadband Summit in Arlington, Virginia; the Auckland Comms Connect Conference in New Zealand; a Rhode Island Interoperable Communications Committee meeting in Lincoln; the Nevada Sheriffs' & Chiefs' Association Annual Meeting in Carson City; the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) Volunteer & Combination Officers Section Symposium in the West in Scottsdale, Arizona; the Washington University in St. Louis EMS Conference in St. Charles, Missouri; and a tribal consultation meeting with the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians in Cherokee, North Carolina.

Government Technology 4/24: San Jose, Calif., Reaches Deal with AT&T to Install 170 Small Cells This Year
City officials say the small cells will offer enhanced voice and data capacity for residents and businesses. The technology is also expected to fortify the FirstNet emergency responder communications network, said Dolan Beckel, San Jose's director of innovation and digital strategy.
