ANNOUNCEMENT
June 15, 2018
West Virginia Bureau for Public Health Commissioner and State Health Officer - Rahul Gupta, MD, MPH, MBA, FACP and the Office of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS) Medical Director - Michael Mills, DO, FACEP announce:
To address the immediate concerns expressed by EMS providers regarding the need for additional Advanced Care Technician (ACT) courses to support advanced life support services in rural communities, OEMS has approved ACT training which will begin June 25, 2018 and continue approximately 20 weeks to conclude December 7, 2018.
The course will be taught at the Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority (KCEAA) by Tracey Corbin in conjunction with Pierpont Community College. Interested applicants may register through the OEMS Credentialing Information System (CIS). Due to their expressed need, Charleston Fire Department members will receive priority placement. Others may apply and will be accepted as space allows.
Additionally, OEMS has approved an ACT to Paramedic Bridge Course (Bridge Course) also to be held at KCEAA beginning in August 2018 and concluding in June 2019. Specific information and registration will be available on CIS.
Further information on both the ACT class and the Bridge Course will be posted on the OEMS website at www.wvoems.org.
