National Registry Recertification Reminder

Dear State EMS Official,
As you know, the National Registry has officially phased out the
Traditional Model of recertification. All EMTs, Advanced-EMTs, and
Paramedics due to recertify their National EMS Certification by
March 31, 2019 are required to use the National Continued
Competency Program (NCCP).
Starting next week, the National Registry will be communicating
the full implementation of NCCP in several ways, including direct
email and social media. We wanted to ensure that you are aware of
the changes before the email reminders were sent. As a
reminder:
- Refresher Course and Continuing Education components are now
represented as National, Local and Individual.
- EMS-related continuing education that reflects the current
standards of practice and met the requirements of the traditional
descriptions will transfer to meet the requirements of the NCCP
model.
- The NCCP recertification hours are:
- Paramedic: a total of 60
- AEMT: a total of 50 hours
- EMT: a total of 40 hours
- EMR: a total of 16 hours
If a provider doesn't see their hours when they log on, they
will be prompted about the change and provided instructions on how
to reassign their Continuing Education. They will see the following
message:
From My Certification Role, navigate to Manage Education at www.nremt.org. You can assign hours
from your transcript to the NCCP model. Please note: We
attempted to reassign some of the education. If some courses
couldn't be moved, you will be prompted to complete the process.
The National Registry reassignment isn't permanent. If you
don't agree, you can reassign hours as needed.
We appreciate your assistance in helping us make this a very
smooth transition. Please let us know if you have any
questions.
Kind Regards,
Donnie Woodyard, Jr.
