Director

West Virginia Office of EMS

350 Capitol St.

Charleston, VW 25301

Dear Ms. Raynes:

On November 14, 2017, the NREMT Board of Directors approved a motion to retire the EMT-Intermediate/99 (1/99) program effective December 31, 2019. No further testing at this level will be provided by the NREMT after this date. This will include all re-testing. EMS education programs are strongly encouraged not to offer the 1/99 curriculum after January 2019.

We understand that the retirement of these examinations will require some adjustments for your state. The NREMT is committed to assisting your office and will readily collaborate on communication to your stakeholders. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to assist with the transition.

For technical questions related to the retirement of the program, please contact Alan J. Arguello, Project Manager, at aarguello@nremt.org or 614-888-4484 ext. 133. If you wish to discuss this matter further, please contact me directly at gapplegate@nremt.org or 614-516-2771.

Thank you for your service and for your commitment to protecting the public through National EMS Certification.

Best regards,
