The Monongalia County Health Department (MCHD) will be sponsoring the following radiation training courses:

(A118) AWD140 - WMD Radiological/Nuclear Awareness Course (September 17, 2013)

(A119)  PER240 - WMD Radiological/Nuclear Responder Operations Course (September 18, 19th and 20th, 2013)

The MCHD is specifically offering the operations course in response to the after action report generated by our previous radiation transportation accident exercise. It was very evident that we needed to provide more hands-on training in the areas of how to use survey meters, how to perform radiation surveying, how to choose and properly use personal protective equipment and how to operate at a radiological incident. All these topics and more will be covered by this operations course.

These courses are provided by FEMA and are free of charge. Targeted Audience/Discipline: Emergency Management, Emergency Medical Services, Fire Services, HazMat, Healthcare, Law Enforcement, Public Health, Public Safety Communications and Public Works. A certificate and CEU's will be issued upon successful completion of the course.

Many of you who are receiving this email have already taken The Radiological/Nuclear Awareness Course so you do not have to consider taking it again. You can go right to the registration site and register for the Radiological/Nuclear Responder Operations Course.

If you are planning on taking the Radiological/Nuclear Responder Operations Course and have not taken the awareness course, it is recommended as a prerequisite that you take the Radiological/Nuclear Awareness Course.

I have attached flyer's that give more detailed information concerning the courses.
