First Annual Fire Officer Training Weekend - Sissonville, WV

October 26 - 28, 2012

The Fire Officer Training Weekend is coming upon us very quickly.

You DO NOT have to already be a fire officer to attend the school. Anyone can take these courses. They are simply based more on Fire Officer duties.

All Fire Departments in West Virginia and many bordering counties in surrounding states should have received brochures in the mail about a month ago. If for some reason you did not receive it you can still register online or you can print out a brochure from the Website.

Again, we have teamed up with West Virginia University Fire Service Extension to offer Pro Board Certification for some of our courses: Fire Officer 1/2, Fire Instructor 1/2, and Hazardous Materials - Incident Command.

Many of our courses have been approved for EMS and Law Enforcement In-Service Training.

Lunch will be provided on Saturday at no charge to students.

All courses have a maximum number of students that are allowed to attend. You need to pre-register as soon as possible to ensure you get the course you want. Some are already beginning to fill up.

We have made it simple for you to register for the training offered at the Fire Officer Training Weekend. Simply go to the school's website at http://www.SissonvilleFireSchool.com and you can view the class list, view instructors bio's, download the brochure, check to see if your class is beginning to fill up, and of course, register online with a credit card.

Pro Board Certification

This year we have teamed up with West Virginia University - Fire Service Extension to offer many of our courses with Pro Board Certification. Many states allow you to transfer these certifications without having to retake the class by having this certification.

Pro Board certifiable courses we are offering include a combination Fire Instructor I/II course, a combination Fire Officer I/II course, and a Hazardous Materials - Incident Command course.

FREE INCIDENT SAFETY OFFICER TRAINING!!!

In conjunction with the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC), Motorola Communications, and the West Virginia State Firemen's Association, we are proud to offer a FREE four (4) hour Incident Safety Officer Course on Friday evening , October 26, 2012 at the training weekend. The course uses a combination of lecture and small group exercises. This is an excellent primer for the National Fire Academy's ISO course and a solid refresher to those who may already have ISO training.

The Instructor for the course is Kevin Quinn who is the Deputy Chief of the Union Valley District in Rhode Island. He has 36 years experience in the fire service and serves on the Executive Committee of the NVFC. The Union Fire District has been in operation since 1883 and currently has 184 volunteers.

LATE ADDITION!!! - CRISIS MANAGEMENT FOR SCHOOL BASED INCIDENTS

We have partnered with the RDPC (Rural Domestic Preparedness Consortium) to bring a FREE U.S. Department of Homeland Security approved course (AWR 148: Crisis Management for School-Based Incidents: Partnering Rural Law Enforcement and the Local School Systems) to our school. This is an 8-hour course that will be held on Saturday only. Information and Registration form for this course only is available at: http://www.SissonvilleFireSchool.com/fotw/AWR148.pdf. Registration for this class only is due by October 13, 2012.
