The West Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services and the West Virginia EMS Technical Support Network have teamed up to provide six (6) Incident Command System for EMS courses across West Virginia.
ICS for EMS is a two-day, instructor-led field course equivalent to I100 and I200, designed to introduce students to the concepts of the incident command system as applied in pre-hospital emergency medical services.
Students will be introduced to the concepts for EMS-specific ICS through lecture and guided discussion. They will use scenarios, case studies, graphics, audiovisuals, and role-play to demonstrate understanding of concepts.
The instructor for the courses will be John Smoot, Chief of Operations for Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority. Funding for the courses is provided through the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services' Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response Hospital Preparedness Program grant.
Grant funding has allowed us to offer this voluntary educational opportunity to the State's EMS community FREE OF CHARGE.
