Description: | This policy applies only to currently certified West Virginia EMS personnel who are members of the US military during deployment or activation. A. If an individual's EMS certificate expires while on active military duty, WV certification is continued in an inactive status. B. Upon return from active duty, the individual must submit appropriate documentation of active duty status to WVOEMS. Such documentation must include: 1. Activation orders and date. 2. Discharge or deactivation date. (DO Form 214). C. Upon receipt of appropriate documentation, WVOEMS will extend the individual's certificate one year from the date of discharge. D. During that extension, the individual: 1. Will be allowed to practice at their certification level as authorized by a licensed EMS agency. 2. Must complete all current requirements for recertification for their certification level. E. Individuals who do not provide documentation to WVOEMS within one year of the date of discharge voluntarily surrender their certificate. Recertification for these individuals is then via standard process for any expired certificate holder. |
