Mobile Critical Care Paramedic

Initial Certification

Personnel qualify for certification as a Mobile Critical Care Paramedic by meeting the following requirements:

  • Meet all requirements outlined in the EMS Certification Requirements for Paramedic.
  • Create a CIS account.
  • Submit an online application and certification fee.
  • Possess a current EMT certification.
  • Complete a background check, if not done so before.
  • Submit a copy of your CPR card.
  • Successfully complete a WVOEMS approved MCI Awareness and Operations or higher, one time requirement.
  • Successfully complete Hazmat Awareness training meeting OSHA 1910.120 or higher standards on a yearly basis.*
  • Submit documentation of three (3) years' emergency experience as a Paramedic.
  • Submit documentation or card copies of ACLS, ITLS, PHTLS, PEPP.
  • Successfully complete and pass a WVOEMS approved Critical Care Transport educational program.
  • Successfully complete and pass a WVOEMS approved skills examination for CCT certification.



* CLARIFICATION: Applications with MCI/HazMat hours noted for 2013 will be processed (individuals who were mid-recert cycle when the change was made), however, in accordance with the policy effective January 2014 recertifications beginning 2014 will NOT.
