A Commitment to Emergency Care in West Virginia
West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources
State Trauma and Emergency Care System
West Virginia requires that new EMS personnel take and pass the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) examination as a prerequisite for certification to practice. Periodic re-certification does not require NREMT testing but is performed at the state level, depending on the level of certification attained.
Testing for the National Registry examination is performed by Pearson Vue .
To locate the NREMT test center nearest you, visit Vue's NREMT Test Center Locator or view our database of West Virginia NREMT Test Centers.
More information is available on the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians web site.
