Improving the quality of health care in West Virginia
 

From West Virginia Code §64-48-1, The West Virginia Office of EMS is charged, by the Bureau for Public Health Commissioner, "...to ensure adequate provision of transportation of incapacitated individuals and emergency medical services to the Citizens of West Virginia; to meet the needs and goals set out in W. Va. Code §16-4C-2; and to provide clear direction to emergency medical services (EMS) personnel and agencies in West Virginia."

In order to provide a high quality of care for West Virginians, our office regulates the practitioning of EMS by individuals and the licensing of agencies that provide transport services.

 
 
 
How can we help you?
 

Through the Office of EMS, you can:

  • become an EMT by obtaining or re-obtaining certification as an Emergency Medical Services Attendant authorizing you to practice EMS under a licensed agency in West Virginia.
  • become licensed as an authorized EMS service provider (agency) to provide emergency medical transport services in the State.
